Holaryn Agent v0.12.5 Nightly: clearer chat and easier setup
Holaryn Agent v0.12.5 Nightly brings a clearer everyday chat experience and easier setup alongside
the expanded Skills, coding, and workflow tools. This is a development release for people who
want to try the latest changes and provide feedback.
A clearer conversation
The conversation now sits directly above the message box. Model and Mode remain visible below
it, with additional controls in an expandable Chat options section. A reasoning indicator shows
the current setting, and connection messages explain whether the interface can reach the local
agent.
Web-search answers show readable citations linked to their recorded sources. Internal trust
markers and citation identifiers no longer interrupt the answer. Search settings also support a
trusted private SearXNG server, which can provide web search without a separate paid search API
key. Results depend on that server and its upstream search engines.
Saved conversations can be exported as Markdown or JSON after restarting the host. Exports read
the retained chat history, including messages older than the live event buffer, and leave out
replies replaced by editing or rewinding a conversation. Messages already removed by retention
cannot be recovered through export.
Setup within Settings
Settings includes guided encrypted-state setup and recovery information. Advanced reasoning
continues to require unlocked encrypted local state and remains experimental. The reasoning
indicator in chat links to the relevant settings.
This release also addresses provider request errors caused by tool names, improves desktop chat
event handling, and keeps messages available as drafts when the agent is busy. Explicitly armed
Unrestricted mode grants broad authority across permission gates, so choose it only when that
is the authority you intend to give the agent.
Skills and longer tasks
Skills 2.0 brings package discovery, a versioned library, reviewable imports, activation policy,
SkillBench, and Skill Studio. Importing a skill does not itself grant execution trust.
The coding and workflow surfaces bring repository guidance, worktree and checkpoint controls,
plan review, change presentation, artifacts, and progress and approval state into the workbench.
Final verification also fixed workspace-relative coding paths, strict-provider system-message
ordering, and document creation across background rendering and database persistence. A real
document-generation demonstration completed all three workflow steps and produced its DOCX guide.
Trying this Nightly
If you are upgrading from the earlier public v0.12.4 Nightly, download and run the
new installer. That build uses an older updater signing key and cannot verify
this release through its in-app updater. The new installer uses the key trusted
by the current application; keep your existing Holaryn state when upgrading.
Nightly builds are development releases. Experimental features retain their documented setup
requirements. Manual screen-reader validation and the 24-hour production soak still have
outstanding work; this release does not complete those acceptance records or constitute a Beta
or Stable promotion.
